Huawei eSIM troubleshooting

My Huawei does not show an Add eSIM option

Only three Huawei phones support eSIM: P40, P40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro (international SKUs). P40 Pro+, P50/P60/P70, Pura 70 and the Mate 50/60/70 series do not have eSIM. Newer HarmonyOS NEXT devices (China-only post-2024) also lack eSIM.

Can I reinstall a deleted eSIM on Huawei?

No. Once an eSIM profile is removed from a P40, P40 Pro or Mate 40 Pro it cannot be re-downloaded — you have to request a new activation from your provider. Treat installation as one-shot.

Activation fails on my P40 / Mate 40

Make sure you are on the international (non-China) firmware, on Wi-Fi, and have requested the QR code from a carrier that supports eSIM activation outside Google's mobile network management (some operators reject Huawei devices since 2019). Re-issue the activation if needed.
